the painting was inspired by a beautiful moment a friend shared: seeing the lightning bugs in her garden reminded her to slow down and appreciate the simple wonders of life. I was struck by how lovely that moment must have been for her; reminded of how I have felt similarly, and inspired to create a painting that represents such moments, as well as shows appreciation for the undeniable marvelousness of bioluminescence.
